What is Christian Aid? A week of fundraising, prayer and action for the world's poorest people. Why? Because poverty is a scandal, and because we believe in life before death. Who? A movement of 4,000 local organisers, 20,000 supporting churches and 300,000 dedicated collectors. How? Through the UK's biggest house-to-house collection, a national advertising campaign, and thousands of special events and church services.
By supporting Christian Aid Week, you are among millions of people who think poverty is a scandal we do not have to accept. Your actions, commitment and contributions will bring about a better life for people in poor communities all over the world. We believe in life before death. Life is for living, not merely surviving. The packs of envelopes are packed in street groups and they will be available from the back of the church from Friday 30th April for volunteers to pick up. This year more than ever we need to help people in the Third World stand on their own two feet. In addition to the door-to-door collection a special box for envelopes will be in the Stars News Shop in Stafford Street during Christian Aid Week for those people who were out when the collector called. There is also a national website at www.caweek.org. If you need any further information or would like to offer support please call Joan on 850911. |
